I
have been pretty big into gaming since I was in high school. Before
"online" gaming, you could only play others if you were connected to
them in a network. Internet connections weren't fast enough to handle the amount
of data that games required. So we would have Xbox and LAN parties at some of
my friends houses in which we would all bring a few Xbox's or our computers and
connect them. As far as games that I've played: Age of Empires,
Call of Duty (all of them), Halo, God of War, Star Craft, etc. I currently have
both an Xbox and a PS3 and use them on the regular. In addition, I've also
played a few games with my phone such as Chess and Words With Friends. I like
all these games, but I am not an addict. That's why I refuse to even play World
of Warcraft and mostly stick to my first person shooters; I get more done that
way. I think that online gaming is great because it does allow you to connect
with others, no matter how far away they are. One of my really good friends
lives in NY and I play with him sometimes. However, as with most recent
advances in technology, the thing that has been taken away is the human
connection. I never had more fun playing video games than back in the day when
we'd have our LAN parties. Everyone was there in person, and we'd just party,
talk trash to each other, and just have a great time.

Assignment: Making a Movie
There are many free tools out there that one can use
to make and edit a short video such as Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, Lightworks,
Avidemux, VSDC Free Video Editor, etc. However, since I own Adobe Photoshop and
am also proficient in using the program, I will be using it to create my video
for next week's assignment. I've only created one video with Photoshop, but it
was very similar to Adobe Flash and was not difficult. I've also included a picture of the program I'll be using ;)

Why I'm Taking CIS103
Hello! Welcome to my blog. In this first blog, I want to explain why I'm taking CIS103 (Social Networking). I went to ASU and graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Business and Psychology. I never could figure out exactly what I wanted to do and had built up a bunch of credits so I did two different things I really liked. In addition, the advisors and everyone at the time said that employers are now looking for people that are more interdisciplinary. Which is half true, they just failed to mention that they also want you to specialize in something. I have a good job at a really nice steakhouse, but after I graduated I wanted to get out of the industry and start a career. Unfortunately all the jobs I got were horrible and I made a lot more money at the steakhouse. After a year I decided that I needed to go back to school. However, this time I was going to follow my passion and do something creative, so I decided to major in Web Design.
